Vibration Training - A Guide
Vibration training uses Power Plate® machines to give the body a concentrated work-out. If you've never used vibration training before, check out our guide below.
Vibration training is a relatively new phenomenon. But increasingly, gyms across the US are investing in Power Plate® vibration training machines. If you're too scared to feel the good vibrations, don't be - it couldn't be simpler to incorporate vibration training into your exercise regime.
Vibration training - what is it?
Vibration training simply involves a Power Plate® machine, which works by using vibrations to stimulate the body's muscles, giving them a speedy work-out. Using vibration training, the muscles contract multiple times each second, whereas they would only contract once per second during traditional training. Vibration training offers a quicker workout with excellent results. In short, vibration training offers the best results in the fastest time.
Vibration training - where to begin?
It's recommended you build up the vibration frequency gradually, beginning with nine minute sessions. You can do the stretch and massage programmes to start. Many trainers, as in any exercise, recommend you use the correct posture during vibration training. As with any form of exercise, you should make sure you have warmed up your muscles and are using the equipment correctly before you begin.
Vibration training - how long should I do it?
The appeal of vibration training is that you don't have to spend long on each exercise due to the high impact of vibration training - great news for those short on time. A recommended session of 20-25 minutes three times a week is effective. By combining push-ups, squats and biceps curls you will increase the vibration training response. Keeping your knees bent during vibration training will protect you from any jarring of joints.
Vibration training to improve sports
Like any training, make sure you drink plenty of water. If you're using vibration training to help your performance in a particular sport like golf or skiing, there are specific exercises you can target to focus on specific muscle groups. If you're interested in trying out vibration training, many gyms offer Power Plate® classes or have dedicated vibration training machines. If you're interested in investing in a Power Plate® machine, instruction manuals and booklets can guide you through the programmes.
